OWNERS of older vehicles who want to protect their classic or everyday car from the dreaded rust can now get comprehensive protection from a West Parley company. Phil Lewis has been running his Rustbusters business for 10 years, originally specialising in motor caravans, which because they often stand for long periods are particularly susceptible to corrosion. But now he has decided that with the wider interest in classsic cars and keeping older vehicles on the road there is a market for extending the application to cars. The initial part of the process, which can in total take 48 hours, starts with a thorough clean of each vehicle including the use of an air jet to free any lose or flaking rust, grime and paintwork. |

This is followed by the high pressure injection or sprayingof a specialist Fertan rust converting neutraliser which attacks the corroded areas and converts it into a paint base. .To protect the exposed areas, a clear (Hammerite) atomised waxoyl application is sprayed (at up to 5,0000 psi) into the exposed areas and injected using special tools inside panels, box sections and cavity areas. The final stage is the all over use of a thicker black waxoyl and underseal combination -again a Hammerite product, which remains supple to prevent water ingress and act as a rust preventer. One of the advantages of the Rustbusters treatment is that unlike DIY waxoyl applications Phil's specialist equipment (including fan sprays that cover 360 degrees of internal box section surfaces and door panels) is able to reach areas that can't be accessed by hand or by Conventional spray. These internal locations are often the ones that suffer most from corrosion and wateringress and can't be easily spotted. Prices for the two-day process start at £200 for a vehicle depending on the size and complexity. Motorcaravan treatments range from £400 to £500 |
